The Stag is meant to be an all-occasion wine for aficionados who enjoy the bold, full bodied character of a Cabernet Sauvignon based blend, but want a wine that is drinkable now and pairs well with cuisine. The Stag is our first true blend.  It is an opportunity for us to showcase our blending talents, and to introduce our customers to a new style of wine.

This 2014 vintage of The Stag is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot, 15% Merlot, and 5% Malbec, but each vintage promises to be something a little bit different. Each vintage will maintain the bold and full bodied character of the wine, with a minimum of 19 months of oak barrel aging to impart richness, depth and complexity.

The grapes for The Stag come from a small vineyard in the central coast region of California, not far from Paso Robles, where we ferment and age the final masterpiece. Like our other vineyards, the grapes are farmed without the addition of chemicals or pesticides and the farming methods are natural and sustainable.

The wine exhibits aromas of dried tobacco, smoke, anise, and blackberry. On the palate, rich black currant and black cherry notes intermingle with hints of cocoa, toast, and pepper.

This wine is ready to drink now, but will age well and is drinkable through 2020.

Pair The Stag with grilled or braised meats, wild game, or rich and soft imported cheeses. It pairs particularly well with a nicely marbled cut of steak or a medium-rare lightly seasoned rack of lamb.

Deelish and fun. This full-bodied red is quite smooth and pairs well with your full flavored meaty meals. But sip slowly because it has a velvet hammer approach. It's a crowd favorite for sure
