"Salus" is the 2nd label from Staglin Family, but has garnered just as much acclaim and following as its $190 sibling. Both wines are difficult to acquire, and with good reason- An amazing vineyard on the Rutherford Bench managed by the great David Abreu combined with the winemaking talents of Fredrik Johansson and Michel Rolland. Year after year these wines sell out upon release and garner the top scores from all of the ratings houses.
The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is just now hitting its stride. Sweet floral notes meld into juicy red berries, spice box and cedar, all of which are laced together with remarkable elegance. Silky tannins have developed and improved over the past five years. We have already done the aging on this bottle for you- it is ready to enjoy! As Robert Parker wrote, "In 2009, Staglin’s Cabernet Sauvignon impresses for its superb delineation and nuance." This wine is cellar worthy and can be aged until 2028.
