About the Wine:
The 2013 vintage of this spectacular wine was awarded Reserve Grand Champion Best of Show at the Houston Rodeo Wine Competition. If you were lucky enough to try the 2013 vintage, with its powerful flavors of black cherry and oak, the 2016 is going to blow you away. Amazingly we have improved upon the prior vintage by blending in some amazing Malbec fruit from the peak of Howell Mountain.
Last year's vintage was awarded a Perfect Score Double Gold, Reserve Class Champion for the 2019 Rodeo Uncorked competition! Most of the Malbec planted on Howell Mountain and Mt. Veeder is for blending, but we believe in the purity and power of this Malbec by itself. The steep mountain slopes and higher elevation vineyards have cool afternoon breezes and warmer nights, creating microclimates that produce rich mountain fruit with distinct character. This is Malbec that tastes like $150 Cabernet Sauvignon. You will be hard pressed to find someone who can blind taste this and know that it is a Malbec. Pair with steak after 30 minutes of decanting and pick up an extra few bottles to cellar until 2029.
Tasting Notes: Black Cherry. Chocolate. Baked Cookies. Cherry Cordial. Cardamom. Clove. Vanilla.
