Year after year, our Nice Proprietary Red is awarded at the Houston Rodeo Uncorked Wine Competition. In past vintages, it has won Silver Medals, two Belt Buckles, and in 2019 was named Regional Reserve Class Champion amongst all of the Bordeaux style blends! Each year, we feature the 5 noble grape varietals of Bordeaux blended together from our vineyards in Paso Robles. Every vintage is a little different because just like your favorite homemade meal, the recipe is tweaked to perfection depending on the fruit from that year.
This year the blend consists of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, 5% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Franc. Our own nod to the historic and famous wines of Bordeaux, it was aged for 18 months in French Oak barrels. 2019 was another uncharacteristically warm and dry year in the Central Coast region that translated into a powerhouse of a wine with nice structure and silky tannins. This wine is ready to drink now and does not need decanting. Pair with beef bourguignon or blue cheeses.
Tasting Notes: Black Cherry. Blackberry Jam. Caramel. Christmas Spices.
